Hello and Welcome to Dari Laut Bears.
 
I am Patricia Banks and I live in the ancient seaside town of Hastings on the East Sussex Coast.
 
I have been designing and making Teddy Bears for just over six years now, but I have been sewing for most of my life and I love all aspects of sewing.  I get immense pleasure from creating my bears and furry animals, and occasionally dressing my character bears.
 

My work has been features in the magazines, Teddy Bear Scene and Teddy Beat Club International.
In 2001, I was a finalist in the British Bear Artist Awards, with my Trio in a Trunk.  In 2002 I won the E.V.A. Award for the best dressed bear with my ‘Chelsea Pensioner’.
 
Then in 2003  I won the Readers Choice Award for the best dressed bear, this time with ‘Alice in Wonderland’.  Also  I was a finalist in the Bare Bear Section of the same Award for my ‘Everest– 50 years on’
 

I make Traditional and Character bears and animals. Some are dressed, but mainly they are in the fur.  Some have accessories, like ribbons , beads, or waistcoats. I do not make limited editions.  They are all ‘One of a Kind.’  However I can always make a similar version, if the one you like has been sold.  This is so I keep the individuality of each bear, which is the preference of my customers.
My bears have gone to live not only at places in the U.K. but to Canada and Australia too.
